One hot summer day, I set up this big blank canvas in front of my art gallery during a weekend art walk. As families came by, I invited the kids to grab a squeeze bottle of fluid paint and pour paint on the canvas. I gave them brushes and a squirt bottle of water to use if they wanted, but since the paint came out of the bottles in a rope-like line, the kids made mostly swirls and squiggles. When the day was over the result was a swirl of color, but many areas were overworked and muddy. Once it was thoroughly dry, I used bright transparent glazes of color to lighten it up and added the black lines to enhance all the swirls that had faded into the background. The color choices I made were to reflect that hot fun summer day.
